Goodbye Cambodia, land of the red soil

Early morning at the water pump made with an i-phone

Home, after 24 hours from the place I stayed in Camobia to my own house in the Netherlands.  The sky is covered , dark and it is rainy, 5 degrees Celcius. I took my first hot shower after 5 weeks, slept in a bed with a thick blanket, no muscito-net and no antimuscitospray. A washingmachine is doing my laundry now and I walk through a house with no people around me and glas in the windows. Everything is closed.

While I am writing this blog,( in English, because I know now a lot of people who cannot understand Dutch, so I apologize for the mistakes I will make, it is not my native language either, but I think you can understand the story in my words.), it is already 6 hours later in Cambodia, 6 hours of impressions and live, I still have to spent here.

The fligth from Siem Reap to Singapore went well, it was a small plane with smiling people, but in the plane from Singapore  to Amsterdam I already felt the difference of mentality that was waiting for me in Holland. I was sitting next to a grumpy couple  and also behind me was a man with a unsatisfied look on his face. So… goodbey Cambodia and hello Holland.

A good friend of mine picked me up at the airport and brougth me to Utrecht, a city in the center of my country . It was rushinghour and the roads were filled with so many cars, traffic jam. I remebered, while I was on the back of a moped for 1.5 hours to the countryside I saw 1 car and maybe 5 Cambodian trucks carrying building materials or things from the land.

Then on the railwaystation I was just standing there in the middle of the crowd. Hundreds of people rushing by, there expression concentrated, walkin in rows in or out of the station, going to full fill there daily routine, work, study. Beeps to cheque in or out their train tickets. Like a robot world. I was just standing there, with my Luggage put on the ground, wondering…..this is where I live, this will  be my life in a few days also…. ?!

Goodbey Cambodia, land of the smile and the red soil.

Here some random pictures I took of this wonderfull land. More blogs will follow, although I am home now. I call them ” Afterblogs”. Because in my  mind there is a huge amount of stories to tell. Enjoy.
